Dec 3rd. Day 8 Curacao
This morning after a very slow cruise from Aruba we landed in Curacao. Today we had a trip that we had organised ourselves for a trip to a resort for the day, we were getting picked up at 9:45am and will be taken the 30 minutes to the resort Sta Barbara, we paid for 5 hours in this resort which included transfers all drinks and any meals including breakfast of we wanted. So 12 of us in total were at the meeting point and we were taken in a old bus at a very slow pace to the resort and arrived about 35 mins later, after we were all checked in we were all given wrist bands and headed down to the beach to settle down for the day. We had 5 hours or until 2:45 and the sun was out and it was going to be a good day. The resort is really nice and not too busy and in no time we were taking full advantage of the all inclusive approach and sipping down cocktails.
We lazed around until 1pm and then walked to the bar and got some lunch. Lorna had been counting up all the bills and we were fairly sure we would be quite close to breaking even to the $129 it cost us each for the experience. We really enjoyed today and would recommend this type of excursion to anyone. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was we we told to wait for our our bus driver at 2:45pm outside but he was not there, in fact it took a further 30 minutes before he rolled up. It didn’t matter too much as we got talking to a couple from Detroit called Ken and Lynne who were also on our ship we were all having a blast on the way back and in no time we were back at the ship. Ken and Lynne decided to go off and do a bit of shopping as our ship was not leaving until 7pm tonight, but we were all wet, sticky and covered in sand and in need of a freshen up, not only that we didn’t want to get too drunk as we were eating in Murano’s tonight but not until 9pm so we all headed back to the rooms to chill out and resist the temptation of drinking or eating anything. As we are all next door to each other we were chatting on the balconies and it was soon apparent that none of us was really that hungry and on top of that were all really tired. As we had paid for the speciality restaurants we didn’t want to waste going to Murano’s and missing out on a great meal so we decided to get ready head down to a bar and go to the show at 7pm and try and move the meal to tomorrow. We were also not sure what to do tomorrow on our last port of call in Bonaire. So myself and Lorna went to the excursions desk and asked about a few snorkelling cruises but they were either booked or not exactly what we were looking for, so we ditched the idea of an excursion for now.
Then we went to Murano’s to see if we could change the reservation which we were able to do thankfully, so we are now eating tomorrow at 8:30pm. So now we would just go to the main restaurant after the show, which was not that great, it was a comedian and ventriloquist and was OK in places but mostly not our sort of thing, so now it was a quick meal in the restaurant and off to bed, we promised ourselves we would’t over indulge tomorrow so we could enjoy our evening meal.
More to follow after tonights shenanigans.
